Morningside playground is in Morningside park which was designed by Calvert Vaux and a little by Frederick Law Olmsted as well. It is very old and very beautiful. The park itself is located on the western edge of Harlem, just down the hill from Columbia University. Alex did an amazing job incorporating a lot of the natural elements of the park into the overall design as well as pulling some very cool play equipment together. He designed the big structure himself and the playground equipment manufacturer built it to specifications. Thanks to Becki and Jason, he also ordered a super-cool car driving table thing. This driving thing is wildly popular and is now going into many of the new playgrounds as they are built (thanks Beck and Jason for the tip-off on that one!).
Anyway, Alex did a great job, and Ellie and Nico had the fun to prove it!
If you want to see more pictures of the park in use, check this out.

LOVE IT! I'm also loving that Alex used one of those molded car track thingys. And to think I was there....
That's awesome that you have a blog now! ...No picture of Alex at the top?
It's great! It was fun to see it before, during, and now after--what vision, Al!!! I'm a proud mom.
Well, we have no picture of Alex up at the top because I have yet to have Minna take one of all of us... alas.
Just for the record, Alex actually chose the photo for the blog and set it all up, so it wasn't me trying to exclude him. It will be rectified as soon as we can get a family picture!!! ARRGGHHHHH!!!
Perhaps I could photoshop him in there somewhere...
Way to go Alex! What a cool park. I saw some of the other pictures and it is something else. And extra fun that it's so historic.
And I really like that molded item. Bruce would be in absolute heaven.
Great for NYC to have Alex's talents to design and create monuments and parks! How fun!!
What a beautiful, ingenious, knowledgeable-about-children place to play. Just stunning. Well done, Al.
Congratulations! That really is a great achievement. It really looks fun and unique, and props for using natural elements of the park, very FLW. Well done.
