Gingerbread houses were made (passive voice is allowed in our house during the holidays).
Ellie's class had a rockin' holiday party.
Santa made his annual appearance through our neighborhood...
...and he (or his representatives) stopped by later that evening with the goods.

The next morning:
We finished it all off that night with a delightful Christmas dinner (check out that stripey Jello!). Ami's sister Becki and fam arrived later that night for a visit... but that'll have to be another post.

Incredible! It makes me want to be a kid. You guys looks like you've got some great traditions cookin...
Could you please explain "passive voice" to me? I have one more question: Did Marge tape up that box shown in picture #7?
mmm... jello...
Now I feel really lame that the NY Harts can go get a real Christmas tree and all we had was a 3 ft artificial one. You've inspired me for next year.
Ami making a jello salad? I love it.
Passive voice: Gingerbread houses were made vs. We made gingerbread houses. Think Pres. Monson... hearts were touched, lives were changed, souls were saved, etc.
And no, it was not my mom, but Alex's brother Thomas. My parent's would have been Fedexed. As it was, they sent it directly from the seller.
Lindsay, I'm disappointed with your fake tree. However, Alex was given an edict for real trees when we were married. I informed him that if we ever had a fake tree, I would file divorce papers immediately.
And actually, the jell-o was made (passive voice again) by Alex.
Lindsay - I've actually seen some pretty classy fake trees, and I'm off to your blog to see if you have a picture of yours to see if I can possibly accept it.
That does make sense. While all the extra tape is in the spirit of Marge, FedEx makes a lot more sense. And who doesn't send directly from the manufacturer these days? So convenient.
The fact that Alex made the Jello makes me happy er, laugh. He really must like it..... Alex, you can like Jello if I can like Neil Diamond.
I have to confess that we switched to a fake tree last year. Some nice old lady in our ward last year offered her 1 year old tree for free as it was just too hard to put together. I have never had a fake tree in my life, but here is the deal: 1) Rob hated getting them more then a week before Christmas as he thought the pine needles were too much to bear. So this year, I was able to have a tree the day after Thanksgiving. 2) Rob has a fear of the lights burning real ones down and after turning the lights on, would come in every half hour to check the heat coming from the LED bulbs. Boys can be so weird. Anyway reason #1 was enough to put me on board with the fake trees. Mine is very pretty and 7 1/2 feet tall, to it's credit.
So who exactly made these houses. Clever wording by the way.
The whole world is going astray (i.e. getting fake trees)!!
I made the houses, or rather cut them out from a pattern. Martha Stewart has a great recipe with a pattern you just print and trace into the dough. It's great. THen the kids put the houses together (with help) and went to town on their own with the candy. A couple days later Nico asked me if he could eat his candy yet. I told him he could and I looked over in time to see him literally bite chunks of candy off his house without using his hands. He was really into it.
