names

After days of thought, discussion, and analysis (probably overanalysis), we have decided on the names. Here they are:

The Baby Formerly Known as A is Anders Nathanael Hart.

His younger brother by 18 minutes is Liam Henry Hart.

Our primary motivation for choosing those names is just that we like them, and we like how they sound with Hart as a last name.

Anders also references our many ancestors named Anderson on both sides, and some actually named Anders. Liam is an Irish version of William, which recalls my Irish heritage. Nathanael and Henry were initially inspired by Nathanael Greene and Henry Knox, two great (if far from perfect) Americans. But really the primary motivation came from just liking those names.

Here are a few more photos from the last few days.

Ellie, Nico, and Grandma Anderson came to visit in the hospital. We're all home now, by the way.

Have to throw this in here. Since the birth took place in the OR, in case a c-section was necessary (it wasn't), they required full nuclear-proof gear. Here's the proud father about to embark on a germ-free trek.

Delivering at Stonybrook was a great experience overall. The people were so good to us at every step. Even the views from our rooms were pretty nice. We'd recommend this place to anyone around here.

Ever since the birth, it seems like time is divided into two categories: Sleeping and (more often) Not Sleeping. There is some of the former though.

I love this shot.

As nice as Stonybrook was, we were happy to get out of there. The boys celebrated their first ever car ride by falling asleep.

Thanks for stopping by!

They are even cuter in person!!
Anders and Liam are settling in more each day and have mastered sucking on pacifiers already!! Anders wants to only sit up on my lap while Liam snuggles on the shoulder and responds to lullabys...lots of cuddling going on.
Thanks to Grandma Hart who was here during the August heat wave and let Ami sleep or rest - Ami carried the babies full term. The hospital staff was amazed at twins weighing 7-lbs and 7.7-lbs!
Love to all- Grandma Anderson

They are so beautiful and you are all so beautiful together; these pictures make me cry--in a good way. Just wish you weren't so far away. They are still not getting Yankees hats.

Great names! And great pictures (was that really the view out of your room? Amazing.). I hope a goodly amount of that sleeping category gets represented for you guys. But I bet your boys will get that down in no time. Congratulations again to the whole Hart clan!

You mean, you weren't talked into having a c-section?! Hospitals and OBs are big on those here in NYC. Wow! Congratulations again!! Seriously, what a champ! LOVE the names, by the way. We call our son Liam (short for William, his real name as well as his daddy's name, grandpa, great-grandpa etc. up the line).

Some of the cutest baby boys I have ever seen! And their names are great...really, they are great. I think it is quite a difficult thing to name a child, especially a boy--and you had to name two at once! Liam and Anders--super cute. You six make a gorgeous family.
