Luckily, Nico has warmed up to the water.

But only occasionally.)While I'm stealing pictures from Monica, I thought I'd throw this one in of our day at the Sunken Forest beach out on Fire Island. The waves were crazy that day, but it didn't stop the Ellie from having a blast! You can see Ellie on the right and me running in behind her to make sure all the little kids weren't washed away.
Last, here are Ellie and two of her great friends having a wonderful time on a sand bar on the North Shore. The tide came in shortly thereafter and washed the sandbar away, but not the girls.

What fun! Nico will grow up to be a very serious marine biologist. And Ellie will be a champion swimmer. I've got a picture somewhere of a young Alex at the beach in Delaware--also quite cautious around water, but not now, ever since he discovered the joys of boogie boarding in Oregon.
What larks! What could be better than growing up close to the ocean.
