more park press!

The initial response to my latest park concoction is coming in quite positive... we had a community meeting a few days ago where the entire audience of 40+ people had many comments, every single one enthusiastically supporting. Is this still New York, I wondered? Anyway, now I know how Kim Jong-Il must feel when he addresses parliament. (And it is all good.)

As usual, the local paper of the Upper East Side had a reporter there, and this was his take on it. Final review is scheduled at City Hall on Monday, and then I get to build the place!

A few more images...

This is how the ramp looks now:

And here's my proposal.

Existing roof pavilion...

And how it will look soon.

Finally, the lower level, such as it is...

...and the proposed changes. Kind of subtle, you may not notice much of a difference.

But wait a sec, Alex, what does it look like at night? Bet you haven't thought of that, eh?

I'm always amazed at the alternate realities that are possible with just the right combination of Photoshop and loud music.

Wow! Looks fantastic! Having seen this site in all its original huddy decrepitude, I can hardly wait to see the transformation. Photoshop and loud music, eh? I didn't know there were TWO things a person needed to be so creative. So you're saying that loud music alone won't do it? Turns out I've been barking up the wrong tree all these years.

Very cool Al! Although, as the wife, do I get to be indignant that they did not include your name in the article but instead referred to you as "the parks department?"

Good for you, Al! Yet another triumph. Do you have to wear elevator shoes for the whole Kim Jong-Il effect? And what was the loud music that was so effective in this case? In-choiring minds want to know.

Very cool and might I add- a vast improvement on the area. Nice to see those ugly industrial areas turn into such a pleasant place to be.
I would like to know the loud music specifics too.
(Just wondering if you are listening to anything I don't know about and could possibly like.)

Why not call the new project the "Hart Park" - complete with a NEW YORK ACCENT.

Works for me.

ha ha nicely done. people are usually mad when my projects are announced.... either "Dont build This! whats wrong with you!!" OR "Why did it take so long to build this!!! whats wrong with you people"

this problem will of course vanish when Hart Bros. Inc becomes a world super power

So cool! Who came up with the name of the park? Sounds like an interesting and forgotten historic figure. And I love the quote in the article, "I hate to say it, but it's almost perfect."
